7 Haunted Places in NYC and Their Legends

All cities have spots presumably haunted. The legends behind the supposed supernatural events contemplate a series of vile human acts and other evil ones. Some of the sites we will talk about are not necessarily tourist sites, but others do, so you can take pictures of the interior of the former, while of the latter you will only have to capture an image of their exterior.

The Dakota, Manhattan

Thanks to the filming of the horror film Rosemary’s Baby, directed by Roman Polanski in 1968, a kind of mystery covered the Dakota, located on the Upper West Side. But the event that ended up marking such a haunted building was that John Lennon was murdered at its doors. That is why the appearance of ghosts through the hallways and room, including the ghost of the former Beatle, shocks believers and skeptics.

It is a property whose construction dates from the Nineteenth Century, is one of the sites with more paranormal events in Brooklyn, according to the stories of witnesses and former inhabitants. A story tells untimely calls to the door and windows, as well as objects that are thrown from outside. Today it is a spot frequented by researchers of the supernatural and it is a place on the map of the Haunted Places.

The Chapel of St. Paul is one of the oldest buildings in New York City and was also the site where the body of the British actor George Frederick Cooke was buried. He donated his cranium to science, but he has seen his spirit prowling in the pantheon as he searches for his head.

Churches seem to be the favorite places to relate them to supernatural activities. An example of this is the Most Holy Trinity Church, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. People said that sometimes the spirits of people who died on the ground before the church was built can be seen. There is also talk that the ghost of a monsignor and a bell ringer can also be seen. It is even said that the bells come to ring by themselves.

Lights that turn on and off alone, spooky reflections in the mirrors, taps that open and close, screams in the corridors. And the deaths of famous people such as Nancy Spungen and writer Dylan Thomas, seem to fuel such theories.
